The mural is complete!

After many afternoons running to downtown Simpsonville after work, the mural is finally complete! I sealed it and am happy to say it looks how I dreamed it would!

This is the first public mural that I have done. I am honored by the opportunity that Greenville County Soil and Water have given me. So many people came up to talk to me and ask me questions about this mural. For those of you who missed me while I was painting, let me fill you in on what this mural is all about.

This mural is focused on conservation and keeping our waterways free of pollution. I chose to go with the simple saying, ‘Protect our Earth’ while focusing on typography for the main feature. Around this phrase I have many South Carolina related images. First are the Blue Ridge Mountains that we border. Then we have our blue heron, honey bee (very important everywhere), and our state flower yellow jessamine. Below is a little pond filled with fresh water fish and lily pads. The fish consist of catfish, spotted bass, and white crappie.

I am so happy this is completed and I really hope to paint more murals in the future. I will still be focusing on ceramics and also teaching ceramics, but I love painting so this is a good outlet to get into!
