Stop, Collaborate, and Listen

In the past couple of months I have been working with my good friend Stevie Storck on an exiting project. Stevie is an interior designer, blogger, and now author from my hometown in York County, Pennsylvania. She's writing a faux floral craft book that will come out this December and I've been popping into her life virtually for inspiration and collaboration. Together, we have designed a small collection of beautiful, functional ceramics for the home.

As you are looking through my shop, you’ll see categories that go with the photos. "Morgan Mattson Ceramics x Stevie Storck Design Co." depicts our collaboration pieces. Below you’ll see the handful of projects that we planned together.

As you can see, my greater collection relates well with our collaboration. All of my work ranges in color, texture, and hand painted designs. Branching into the interior design world was an easy fit, as costumers generally work my pieces right into their home.

Functionality is very important to me in my work. I have hand thrown all of the pieces in this collection except. For the garden tags. Each piece is carefully designed for maximum satisfaction and ready to implemented into your daily life.

Below you can see some of our collaboration

The Bud Vase was thrown and textured to create an appealing, yet simple design. This vase is meant to hold a few real or faux flowers. The reason it was designed so simply was to allow emphasis to the buds.

The Herb Signs are hand made as well as hand painted. Stevie and I were going for a vintage sort of design that is still minimal. The black and white glaze allows for the greens of the herbs to pop around the sign.

The Medium Planter is mainly white with a hint of blue grey. Again, Stevie and I wanted to emphasize those lovely plants while still having a classy pot to put them in. This piece was thrown on the wheel and then holes were drilled into the bottom for drainage.

Last we have our Patterned Vase (my favorite) This was inspired by traditional Greek vessel forms. However, I wanted to put a modern and fun twist onto it. I love patterns and designs so I drew out some and sent them off to Stevie for feedback and input. These where the final outcome.
